FORMATS FOR 2009 Half of the teams will play in the AM, half will play in the PM. We have several great sites secured for the 2009 event and final location designations will based on available gym space as well as number of teams in each division. AM WAVE BEGINS AT 8:00 AM (SITE MEETING/CHECK-IN AT 7:30 TO OUTLINE GYM RULES) PM WAVE BEGINS AT 2:30 PM (SITE MEETING/CHECK-IN AT 2:00 TO OUTLINE GYM RULES)
Note: We reserve the right to move teams between divisions to allow for even numbers in AM wave and PM wave as well as for the best possible competition for all teams in the tournament (for example, 32 teams in D1-PM, 16 teams in D2-AM will become 24 D2 AM and 24 D1 PM). We will consider several factors in making our decision as to which teams will be in Division 1 and which teams will be in Division 2 including, ranking in your region and numbers of teams from your club in each division.
MONDAY PLAYOFFS SCHEDULE: AM Wave teams will begin as early as 8:00 AM, PM wave teams will begin no sooner than 10 AM. Last Match of the Day is scheduled for 4:00 PM. |

REMINDER!!!!!
Coaches Meeting/Check-in -- (Location, Holiday Inn Select - Grady Way, Renton) will be from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The MANDATORY coaches meeting will follow from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Please do not forget a copy of your official roster and be prepared to show your medical release forms. Every team must be represented -- the representative must sign and verify the roster, show Medical Release forms, make updates (if any) to the tournament handbook, and get all information back to the team coach.
TO ANSWER THE MAIN QUESTION WE HAVE RECEIVED: DOES THE COACH FOR EVERY TEAM HAVE TO ATTEND THE COACHES MEETING? NO, THEY DO NOT. WE JUST NEED ALL ROSTERS TURNED IN AND VERIFIED AND TO SEE YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY FORMS DURING CHECK IN. WE WILL ALSO HAND OUT A TEAM PACKET FOR EACH TEAM (SO THEY NEED TO PICK IT UP FOR EACH TEAM) AND WE WILL GO OVER ANY CHANGES AS WELL AS SITE-SPECIFIC INFORMATION AT THE COACHES MEETING. YOU CAN SEND ONE (RESPONSIBLE) PERSON TO REPRESENT YOUR ENTIRE CLUB IF YOU WISH, SO LONG AS YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY ROSTERS, AND IF A ROSTER IS INCORRECT OR ILLEGAL, THAT TEAM WILL BE PENALIZED. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE LEAD OFFICIAL AT YOUR SUNDAY AND/OR SITE MAY WANT TO SEE YOUR ROSTER AS WELL (SO PLEASE KEEP COPIES WITH YOU).
Updated Tournament Information: last updated: 02/18/2009 04:01:38 PM
12/12/09: URGENT NOTICE: We have been informed (at 5PM Thursday) that Kent-Meridian HS Main Gym (Courts 1 & 2) is no longer available for PM Wave Saturday because of emergency floor repair. We are currently looking for alternative courts. Tentatively this will be Courts 1 & 2 at Highline College. We will have a final answer at the coaches meeting Friday night.
2/11/09: Pools are posted. Any changes will be distributed at the coaches meeting Friday night.
1/29/09: We are selecting which teams will be in Division 1 and Division 2. Next step will be seeding the tournament. We usually post pools the week of the tournament.
WE NEED TO EMPHASIZE THAT ALL COACHES MUST BRING A CURRENT COPY OF THEIR ROSTER TO THE FRIDAY NIGHT COACHES MEETING. EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MAILED OR FAXED US A COPY. AT THE COACHES MEETING, TEAMS WILL ALSO SHOW THAT THEY HAVE THEIR ATHLETE'S MEDICAL HISTORY FORMS IN THEIR POSSESSION.
Thank-you for your interest in the 2009 Adidas President’s Day Weekend Tournament in Seattle, Washington. Over the years, this tournament has evolved into a great three-day tournament with quality competition for teams of all skill levels. Taking into consideration the tournament format, the fact that there are paid officials on each court, and great venues, it is probably the best value for your money. The tournament will be held at various schools in and around the South Seattle area. The tournament will be a three-day wave progressive pool play format similar to that of a national qualifier (AM wave 8 am - 2 pm, PM wave 2:30 pm - 8: 30 pm).
This tournament provides an excellent opportunity for out of state teams (and older teams not able or unwilling to participate in the Las Vegas Invitational) to spend the three-day weekend in the great city of Seattle, playing volleyball against some of the best teams in the Northwest.
This event has been a huge success in years past and will offer great competition for all most groups at a reasonable price. With the increased popularity of the U16’s division over the past few years, this tournament will be the premier early season event for U16 teams in the Western United States -- in 2005, we expanded your U15 and U16 options to proved a better experience for teams of all skill levels, in 2006 we expanded the 14's to include two divisions. The tournament format will be pool play on Saturday and Sunday with playoffs on the Monday (every team is guaranteed a minimum of seven matches and play on all three days). Play should continue no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, President’s Day, so plan accordingly.
Entry Deadline: January 16th, 2009. Entry Fee: $375.00
There is a $25 discount for very early registration and a $25 late fee for entries postmarked after January 16th, 2009. Entries after the deadline will only be accepted to fill the tournament -- so please call first.
Any
teams wishing to drop before January 16th will lose a $50
administrative fee. Any teams wishing to drop out of the
tournament between January 16th and January 23rd, 2009 will lose 1/2
of their entry fee. After January 23rd, 2009 there will be no
refund of entry fee.
Check-in and a coaches meeting will be held Friday February 13th beginning at 6:30 pm at the Headquarters Hotel (TBA) Please bring team roster to check-in your team. You cannot check in without your roster! All teams must send a reliable representative check-in Friday night otherwise they can not play Saturday. The coach’s meeting will relay any scheduling changes that would not show on the playing schedule. We post the playing schedule on the website as a courtesy, with expectations that all teams will have a representative on-site at the coaches meeting. The most updated playing schedule and other pertinent information will be provided in this meeting. You will receive the complete pool play schedule along with all other pertinent information.
