Junior Fours/Parent-Child 2's
June 12th, 2010
This
is a non-series event. We offer different divisions and
formats in order to encourage players to play and enjoy the game
different ways. This weekend we offer a few different
formats:
-
Junior Fours: A little tougher to find 3 partners
than one, but indoor season just ended and this is a great
chance to re-connect with your teammates. It is also a
good chance to introduce beach volleyball to someone who is on
the fence. We offer 3 different age groups, but there is
always the chance that age groups will be consolidated based on
numbers of teams entered.
-
Parent/Child Doubles: This is truly an experimental
division! Initially the idea was to give dads a chance to
play with their daughters the weekend before Father's Day --
especially given how many dads I see out there rooting for (not
coaching) their daughters during doubles tournaments. We
decided to open it up to other combinations so we offer COED
(Mom/Son or Dad/Daughter), MEN'S (Father/Son), and WOMEN'S
(Mom/Daughter). Since it is an experimental division, we
do not know how many teams we will get and don't know what to
expect. We might end up having to combine them all, you
never know. The big question we have received on this
division is "what about parent's membership?".
What we have decided here is to NOT require parent USAV
membership. If you do not have a membership, we will offer
one-day coverage for $5.00, which you can take care of at
check-in.
-
Boys Doubles (new): With the popularity of beach
volleyball, our events have been filled with girls teams,
leaving little room for boy's doubles teams. We are
limited in space at Alki Beach -- we barely squeezed 17 nets on
the beach June 6th -- so we are adding boys to a few of our
other dates in order to create more opportunities for them to
play.
Remember to
patronize Christo's on Alki, our official
restaurant down there on the beach -- they give a 20% discount
to participants and their families, but you have to bring them
the coupon you pick up at check-in.
Below
is a list of the teams, if your team is not listed, we did not
receive your entry. We will be taking walk-up registrations the morning of
the event beginning at 8:15 AM.
