2010 JUNIOR BEACH SERIES EVENT #3 July 25th, 2010 TEAMS | RECAP | RESULTS | STANDINGS
A NOTE ON THE SERIES: Some people that did not get into our first two Series Events #1 expressed concern that since they missed those two events they couldn't play in #3 or #4, or even in the NW Championships. That can't be further from the truth. The intent of the series is to encourage players to play in all events, yes -- and we do offer one grand prize for the individual that accumulates the most points over the course of the series. HOWEVER, each tournament in our series is it's own independent event. Each event is first come first served, about 10-20% of the field signs up for all four event, which means that a lot of the participants only play in 1-3 events.
VOLLEYBALL SPECIAL: The Spalding King of the Beach™ Volleyball is the official Volleyball of the NW Juniors Beach Series as well as many events Nationwide. We have a limited quantity in stock for sale and sell them on the beach for $45 (tax included). We have included the option of pre-purchasing them as part of your tournament entry process. You can now pre-purchase them for a discounted price of $35 (tax included) while you register for your events, and we will have your ball available to you at check-in.
Remember to patronize Christo's on Alki, our official restaurant down there on the beach -- they give a 20% discount to participants and their families, but you have to bring them the coupon you pick up at check-in.
Another fabulous sunny day greeted the 120 + participants in the third Series Event at Alki Beach. Truly amazing volleyball was played in all age groups. The U18 Division featured a few local seniors getting in some beach competition before heading off to college. The final featured medalists from the State Games Tournament the previous weekend as Olympia's Nina Holbrooks and Lisa Chulich defeated Anne Wright HS (Tacoma) teammates Tia Wright and Stephanie Gann. That's two consecutive championships for the pair.
The 16's featured newcomers to the podium, Shayna Jamieson & Grace Bouffou as they won in a very competitive final over Tera Novy and Emily Farnham.
In the 14's, Isabella Zubrod and Kateri Blodgette-Baker solidified their position atop the point standings with a great win over Camryn Buell and Kaycee Shaffer. Only two points separate these two teams atop the overall standings in the series so the winner should be determined at the Final Series Event on August 21st. Stay tuned for a great series Finale.
In the 12's Mariah Vargas and Katie Pyles had another top 3 finish as they defeated Christina Hegarty and Kasey Woodruff in the final. They now have two championships and a third place in the 12's Series to go along with a 2nd place finish in the State Games Tournament.
